Hi, my name is Jen. I am a full time wife, mom, chauffeur, cook, maid, decorator and now blogger. You name it, that's me! I am an East Coast girl at heart, a Jersey girl to be exact. I'm a mother of five amazing kids- three girls and two boys. I am married to my college sweetheart, my best friend. He is a loving, patient and supportive husband. He is also my (like it or not) devoted DIY partner-in -crime for all of our home improvement projects.
I love to decorate. I love to create. I love beautiful things. And I love not having to spend a fortune to get it. I always love a great bargain and I'm always on the lookout for a bargain! I love to shop, but tell me one girl who doesn't?! I love the challenge of shopping in order to find that really great deal. I especially enjoy replicating something expensive for much less. I refuse to believe that the best quality things in life have to always come with the most expensive price tags. Creating something beautiful doesn't have to cost a fortune. If we are armed with the right power tools, paintbrushes, and of course creativity and inspiration we can turn anything ordinary into something extraordinary.
I have been passionate about decor and all kinds of do-it-yourself projects for as long as I can remember. I have diamond style taste, but I work on a dime budget (five kids, remember?) Without wanting to compromise style, I learned to be creative and innovative. Before I go out and buy anything new I usually "shop my house" first to see if I can find something I can reuse, revamp or repurpose. Why spend the extra money when you can do something with what you already have? I am also infamous for moving things around the house. So infamous that my family never finds anything in the same place for a long period of time. Throughout the years my hubby and I have tackled many DIY projects in our own home (past and present) some of which have inspired family and friends to do the same in their own homes. By doing the projects ourselves not only did we save money, but most importantly we had the satisfaction of knowing that we did it ourselves and that was the most rewarding part.
After reading and being inspired by a number of blogs out in blogland, I decided to start my own blog. I love my home. I love to decorate it. And I love to share ideas on how to decorate with others. So what better reason to go and start a blog? This site is where I share with you adventures in home improvement, decorating and DIY projects. My hopes are to inspire you to bring out your creativity and maybe unleash that decor diva inside you. Better yet, you can continue to inspire me with your creativity! All we need is a little bit of encouragement and a whole lot of inspiration. There is a decor diva in all of us!
